100.00 to fix it and 6 weeks wait time? The problem is that it wont turn on?
I am going to drive to Kodak in Rochester and demand a new one…
No offense, but sometimes you get what you’ve paid for. Personally, I’d take a look at what else is available in the digital realm right now. Applying your $100 towards another, little better model might be better in the long run.
I agree, but if that camera is still under an implied warranty, you might have some thing coming. Save your hard earned[}:)](or stolen)$, and try another camera. It’s a matter of luck, nothing more.
Yes I would strongly advise you to buy a better camara e.g. something over $250 is a good one.
Hold on here… I was told if its for just posting pic on the Internet a 100 kodak camera would do just fine…I was happy with the quility I Got for what I needed…But now Kodak is screwing me over…I hope they just get me a new one.
Considering everything, don’t hold your breath!
Time to get a new camera…unless your old one is still under warranty
At $.05 a can…that’s alot of cans for trainfinder to recycle…
Since you mentioned that the camera won’t turn on, have you, by chance, checked
the battery (ies)? Maybe they have bit the dust.
We have a Kodak Digital, and if we have a problem (and so far, we haven’t), we
always check the batteries first.
…If it’s just a few weeks or even a month or so in age…head to the dealer and plead your case. But I wouldn’t mess with sending it “in to be fixed”…and wait 6 weeks or so…Don’t think I’d go through that. Bite the bullet and go for another brand in the 2 to 250 range if sending on the internet is what you want it for.
Especially if you’re wearing “shackles”…
Chaplainmonster. I live in Rochester NY and i don’t think that EASTMAN Kodak would give you a new camera, but you can try.
How long ago did you buy it? If it’s still in warranty, I agree that they should repair it for free. I also agree that a $100 camera is probably sufficient for Web pics.
Unfortunately, digital cameras are not like film cameras used to be. When I consider buying one, I resign myself to the thought that it’s a consumable, a throwaway, “It’s going to be obsolete in 12 months”. Even a pro digital camera has, in my estimation, a technological life of at most 2 years, and that’s being optimistic. Instead, ask yourself this, “Will I get a 100 bucks worth of enjoyment out it?”
I paid $250 for my reconditioned Olympus C-740UZ in early 2004. Took a lot of pictures with it between that time and May 2005, when it took an unexpected fall and broke the LCD screen.[#oops][censored][censored][:(] Took it to try to get it fixed, probably would have cost more than a new one. [censored] The camera was still usable, but I bought a new camera in July 2005. Took it out of the box and used it twice, then decided I’d use the old one – works just fine! But I still have a backup in case this one goes down.
Oh, and, the second one cost less than the first one, in spite of it being new, but it was a floor model (and the last one!).
I suggest that you write a letter to the president of Kodak, and then be sure to post your letter and his reply back here on this thread.
If you bought a $100 camera, and it’s out of its warranty, pitch it. If it’s out of warranty, why would Kodak care?
Took it back to Walmart…Plead my case and bull***ed them telling it wa still in Warrenty.(Even though it was baught in Dec) They UPSed it to Bensinville IL which by the way is where CP Soo line have there Intermodal Yard. So My camera is on a CP train back to Bensinville IL outside of Chicago. They will then ship me back a Reconditioned Camera wghich would be different from the same one. All the bad things people say about Wal-Mart they really know how to whip big boys around like Kodak. Now I assume that since I live in Plattsburg my camera will be put on a train there in Lachine Yard in montreal and go by CP rail thru Port Huron??
I know why it broke, Its a Kodak, I have never heard anything really good about Kodak digital cameras, I know they invented film and all, but hey, they are really lacking theese days in my opinion, their film even sucks theese days. Buy a Canon and have a camera that will last you a good long time.
I’ll bet you’re very proud of yourself for pulling the wool over WalMart’s eyes like this.
I got a point and shoot Fujifilm A345 which is just great for posting pics on the net and shoots a good video.
My train spotting camera is a Pentax MZ50 (film) which is just great!!! I’m looking at upgrading to a Pentax Istdl2 or a Canon 350D (digital).
