I question I couldn't find the answer too, maybe you guys know........

I was passing through Lordsburg New Mexico a few nights ago where the UP interchanges with the Arizona Eastern RR for it’s run up to the mines in Clifton and Morenci AZ, I saw a locomotive parked on the AE branch that was painted in Rio Grande colors and lettering but was unmistakably a GE B40-8, both myself and my engineer identified it as such, as far as I know the Rio Grande never owned these locomotives, anybody know the answer to this???

See “Diesel Era” magazine March/April 2008 Page 7.

The loco is San Luis and Rio Grande 6527, ex LMX 6527.

Much appriciated, I am hoping to catch it again in the next few days before it leaves the Lordsburg area.
