I remeber the good old days...

when I was the IT department for a factory, carrying the details of the network, computers, phone systems, etc. in my head in order to troubleshoot problems as they occurred.

I remember the good old days when I was resposible for a million dollar inventory of spare parts and could id most of them by sight, along with where they belonged in storage, what machine they were for, and where to buy them.

What I can’t remember is where I put the 2-56 tap and drill that I bought two years ago “because I might need them.” [banghead] [D)]

Tom

That’s nothing. I’d still like to know where the screwdrivers I had yestaerday went to…

If you go out and get another tap and drill you’ll find them. Don’t worry.

Did I leave the hose running?

I have three scale rulers (amongst other things) because I lost one or two. I usually find things a day or two after you finally replace them. You can try to trick the lost items into revealing themselves by borrowing a like item from a friend, bringing it home with a fake receipt and all, but they know better. They will just get lost together and you will have to really buy two replacement items to get even one of them to show up. I just found my multi-meter today after it hiding for over two years. The odd thing is that I didn’t replace it. I’m guessing it got tired of hiding where I put it or it doesn’t work any more (I haven’t checked it yet). Yup, long ago are the days when I could honestly laugh at the boss because he or she couldn’t remember where they left something.

Dude, wheres my car?

At least I do not drool, yet.[:)]

Rich

the good news is you don’t have to buy a replacement for your friend , he will have forgotten that he loaned it to you , assumed he lost it himself and gone out and bought a new one . in fact that’s probably where the original item is anyway , borrowed by a friend

You put it in the same place I put my stuff. Some place where you’ll NEVER forget it![:D]

As my 90-year-old mother says, “I sure do miss my mind…” I’ve become convinced that there are at least two different astronomical anomalies in my workshop/train room. There’s a time warp that operates about 1-2 inches from the floor. Small items dropped will disappear about that far from the floor, and cannot be found for an interval of time, which can be anywhere from an hour to a week, always exactly where you saw it fall. Further, there is apparently a micro-black hole/wormhole which appears randomly on my workbench, grabbing tools and parts I lay down and moving them to other places on the bench, usually under something else. From all I’ve read, these phenomena are fairly prevalent among model railroaders…[sigh]

Oh, and that place where you’ll be sure never to forget about is usually forgotten within 30 seconds of placing the items there… [banghead]

War cry of a frustrated modeler…

“If I was a (fillintheblank), where would I hide?”

Fillintheblank being the tool you put down thirty seconds before, somewhere in easy arm’s reach.

U R not alone–and, therefore, neither am I! Now, I wish I could remember whether or not I took my memory pills…

That’s OK…I woke up this morning and forgot the Alamo…

Hi!

Well, I just turned 64 but I’ve had this problem for 5 or so years… My version is usually that I will buy stuff - particularly MR supplies or tools or books - and then forget I bought them and of course they are “hidden”. That is until I buy them a second time, and then the first magically reappears, and then I realize I have two! Thank goodness for Ebay!

I was gonna reply but now i forget what i was gonna say

Where did I leave my beer? Did I finish it already? Well, better open up another one…

Why can’t I find the tool I need right now instead of when I don’t need it?

Is this memory thing why I have three new depressed center flats for one transformer load?

I forget…

Tilden

I’ve heard that memory is the second thing to go.

Can’t remember the first.

I’m glad somebody does.

The really fun part, is when you find money you hid a couple years ago. Which is my incentive to clean the house and closets from time to time. [8D]
