In a surprising bit of fortune I found out today that I have some free trains on the way. I have a freind who lives in Chicago. He is a dedicaded Milwaukee Road fan.
He was given quite a surprise one day a couple weeks ago when his wife told him that one of her freind’s dad was moving in with them and the freind was wondering what to do with her dad’s model train stuff. So My freind’s wife told her freind that my freind had been a model railroader for almost 40 years and perhaps my freind would be interested in making a few purchases. A week later the wife’s freind returned and said she had a talk with her dad and the dad decided to just give the whole thing to my freind. My freind took possession of it last weekend and didn’t find anything he could use for his layout. So he is sending the whole thing to me instead. Since I like to rebuild and tinker, this should keep me busy for quite some time. I am stoked.
Aren’t you a stick in the mud. If you don’t like this sort of post don’t read them. It was very obvious what it was going to be about by the subject line. Unlike some other posts.
I’ve had almost freebies recently…little hole in the wall hobby place I go to that the owner seems to have lost interest in and lets his partner do 99% of the business deals…lots of Athearn blue box kits and Roundhouse kits sitting on the shelf…most without prices…I’ve been picking them up for $3-$6 each, and last week, a NIB Athearn Sante Fe diesel for $5, it was missing some railings, but my parts box is pretty well stocked, so I just scrounged what i needed…hard to beat those deals!! unless of course, THEY"RE FREE!!!
