I posted back on March 30th that my MTH J Class 4-8-4 didn’t smoke very well. Since then I had returned the enginge and was able to purchase another one. This one smokes like a champ. Even right out of the box, it was a strong stream of smoke. I did’t mentioned before that the pilot wheels on my 1st J Class were stiff and would not stay on the track. I had to place a drop of oil on the truck and work the truck with my fingers for awhile before it was able to run correctly. This new J Class had no problems what so ever. The pilot wheels truck was perfect and again the smoke is ten times better than the one is being repaired.
It’s like anything else you can buy.
Sometimes you get a perfect one, and other times you get a malfunctioning one.
Sometimes you can return it/get if fixed and sometimes you jusst get stuck.
TOo bad they don’t have lemon laws on everthing.
