I think I got him hooked

Ever since I became a subscriber to MR (2005), I have found the magazines in my mail box as if they have been flipped through. I have also seen the Walthers flyers with torn covers and such. I didn’t think much about it since the flyers are printed on such thin paper.

Well, the other day, the mailman delivered my Walthers flyer to my door along with a package that needed a signature and admitted he was looking through them on his route. I kind of laughed about it and he said that some of the articles got his attention. He wanted to know how to subscribe and so I gave him that card that comes in every issue that I usually throw away. I don’t know why I kept one of those cards since I got the January MR two weeks ago.

Ah well, I think I got him hooked.

Probably the USPS “supers” would frown on such things, however, as long as you didn’t mind, he probably won’t get in trouble. Did you tell him how to get the Walthers fliers too?

Ask him how he’s doing, show him an engine, building or some such next time you see him. Don’t ask him in while on his route, as that is probably a big no-no. If he does show interest, use your discression on inviting him to come over some evening or weekend.

Have fun,

My issues used to arrive in sealed bags…I think it stopped about a year ago. I can’t take the latest issue to work without one of the cleanup guys spotting it with my lunchbox…sure enough, I’ll catch him brousing through it every time…
