I got a Sony Action Cam… kind of like a Gopro. It fits perfect in a well car and takes good video. Here is one from when I first tested it out and you can watch it in 1080 HD.
Nice tour of the layout and the video quality is really good. Can you post a pic of how you mounted your camera in the car?
A while back I used a helmet cam that is a favourite among the mountain bikers in the family. The results were pretty good. The camera was a little weighty for the flat car though. Any rock and rolling on the rails was definitely amplified.
Nice, good quality photos. But it will not fit through my tunnels. I have Locomotives that will not fit through all of my tunnels.
ROAR
The camera comes with a water proof case and it has a flat bottom and it fit just perfect in my container/ well car.
I really like your version of the loop at Tehachapi. Nice camera too.
WOW I love it, looks pretty sensational!
Thanks! My layout still needs aways to go. I like having a train go over or under itself.
Eric,
I enjoyed the video and liked the quality. Does your camera also take regular digital photographs as well?
Yes and know… it does time lapse pics so you could just snap one pic and turn off the time lapse part
I have been looking for a good camera for model railroading photography. My digital 35mm takes great pictures but is way too large to get into the layout without crushing scenery elements. Unfortunately all the ones I can find don’t have the depth of field that I want or they don’t have good wide angle fidelity. When I first saw this thread I thought you had found one. Sigh.
It is a video camera not a still photo camera. But I know your pain, my Canon DSLR is too big to get in there for good up close shots
