Hi guys,
I went digging thru my boxes and boxes of train stuff and came across this old beat up building I bought in an estate sale (I think it was the old IHC depot but someone tried and failed at a kitbashing project)… if i were sane, I should have trown it in the trash years ago, but would fit perfect in the space i’m scenicing…It looks like the walls were cut away from the sprues with a hack saw, nothing about the model is even or level, there are a lot of parts missing, and it’s going to take about 2 sheets of styrene plastic to cover up the glue marks, uneven walls, and a couple of bottles of paint to re-paint the entire building…I’m i nuts to spend that much time on this seemingly hopeless restoration, or is my obsession with the hobby the driving force behind trying to turn something totally aweful into something presentable…I think i’m nuts to take on this project…i’ll have photos of it in a couple of weeks if i can pull this off…chuck
If we look around long enough, the lost is simply “misplaced”. If the structure turns out to be a useful addition to your layout, it will have an added patina of “history” to be told to your visitors. If not, the waste can is still ready!
Enjoy the journey.

I bet that would make a good run-down abandoned building![:D][:D]
Yes you are obsessed. And, you are preaching to the choir. ![]()
“I think sometimes i’ve lost my mind…or : Am I obsessed with this hobby?”
Yes! (Both) You are after all a model railroader… So… What’s the problem? [:D][:D][:D]
Keep us posted on your progress, Chuck. I too have a lot of “old” buildings stored someplace that may soon be refound and adapted to the layout. That is where this one came from:
