I don’t know if it’s allowed or how to go about this.
I am planning a move and there will be a lot of stuff not going with me. For instance, I have structures acquired in lots on eBay that have nothing to do with the old west–what I model. I have some N-scale stuff and I model HO. I have some delivery trucks and I use horse drawn wagons.
I’d like to see this stuff get to people who can use it, but like I was for the last few years, struggling to make ends meet. My plan is to list the stuff and let people contact me via PM so as not to embarrass themselves.
Speaking as an ex-mod, it would probably be best to just have folks contact you offline by PM. You could then give all potentially interested parties your list. Better yet, run it past Jeffrey or blownout cylinder.
Seems like a tough way to do it, since they will become available as I dig them out of all the places they are stored around the basement. I may have to cross the street.
Hello Chip I have given stuff away on here before the last time was a few years back. It was scratchbuilding supplies. I did check with the mods then and they said as long as it was FREE it was ok. So I made a list posted it and put first come first serve. Hope this helps Frank
Is there a model rr club near you. If they are properly set up you could donate the stuff to them, they could sell it and that would help them. You can then claim it as a tax deduction to help you with your finances. People that will appreciate it will buy it, a win-win-win situation.
Each time you get a box full, note what is in it, give it some value, keep a copy and you should be all set.
Okay, looks like I can as long as it’s free. It make take a while to gather it all together. It’s funny how stuff moves around when it is being stored. I’ve been finding stuff all over the basement and in my office.
I’m discovering more stuff as I’m going through stuff to pack.
