I won on my first E bay experence. I bought a brand new, still in the box. BN P2K for $59.05 including shipping. I ordered the exact same one last week for $110.97 plus shipping. I haven’t got it yet but hope to get it today or tomarow. The seller says to allow a couple of busisness days to get it here. I paid with PayPal this morning another thing I have never done befor. I can hardly wait to see double headed GP38-2’s pulling a 20 car train up the side of my mountain!!! One problem, since both loco are identical they will have the same road number. How hard is it going to be to chage the number on one of these? Or should I leave it alone just to drive the rivit counters crazy LOL. You folke are a tremendous help. Thanks. Mike
Congratulations, Mike! That’s great! [:)][tup] I sorta figured since you didn’t post anything last night, you didn’t win the locomotive. I enjoy eBay.
I don’t bid very often but I’ve had more success than not, as well as some pretty sweet deals. Make sure you post a pic of that doubleheader when you get it in the mail…
Tom
Mike,
Try this:
Microscale BN decals
Are you sure they’re the same road number? I’ve got two P2K GP-9’s which came with different road numbers. Check with Walthers. They might actually make 2 different ones. If the one you ordered from the supplier hasn’t shipped yet, they may be able to substitute the other road number if they’ve got it.
Good for you! Any one else bidding on it, or were you the only bidder?
I am not 100% sure about the road numbers but they both have the same part number and the best I can tell from the E bay pic the number is 2084 the same as the online order. Yes there were about 8 bidders on it. I started bidding at $33.00 then about 9:30 pm some one out bid me so I raised my bid to $45.00 then in about 2 min. or so he raised the bid again, I was thinking this could go for more than I want to give, but raised my bid one last time and no one bid any more after that. I am on cloud #9. will be watching the mail real close for the next few days Mike
Good for you. I love to win and it sounds like you got one of the good deals. I am predicting you will try again. I also predict that when it arrives you will feel like a five year old that just got his prize from the Wheates box top he sent in. I think it is worth the price of admission just to feel that way again.
I would leave the numbers the same, but give different addresses on the DCC.
You also are inducted into the SCOMRR (snipers club of model railroading)
Great buy!!![:)]
Now don’t become addected to E-Bay,It is a lot of fun,but can become habbet forming(don’t ask).
I us pay-pal on every thing from E-bay,It takes mine a week or so to compleat, watch out for scams in your E-mail!! through!remember ; pay-pal or E-bay will never ask for info in your E-mail,there is a lot of scammers out there that will try and get your info!HAVE FUN!!

They also make road number 2336, Walthers part # 920-30779. #2084 is 30778. Check the supplier and see if they can substitute one for the other.
Congradulations. Post a link so we can see whay you won. I also agree with the Paypal suggestion. That’s really the only way the buyer has any protection.
There is nothing like that first time win. I can still remember mine.
As was said earlier, watch out for the scam emails. When you completed this transaction you also triggered something else to happen. The jerks of the world now know who you are as a paypal and ebay user. They surf closed auctions with fishing software developed to harvest email addresses. Once they get these they will send you emails cleverly designed to look as if they are from Ebay or Paypal. If, or should I say when, you get these do not reply to them. All these sites are set up to do is get your passwords so they can cause trouble for you. If you are not sure about the message, and believe me they are pretty convincing, go to the actual site by typing in the web address. Do not use any links in these messages. When you get to Ebay you can check for any ligitimate messages in your “MY Ebay” account. Any message that you get from Ebay is also posted to the message section there. I believe Paypal also has some such option.
I don’t know if this is bragging, but today alone I got
3 fishing emails for Ebay, 2 for Paypal. 2 for citybank (and I am not even a customer) 1 for a bank I never heard of and 1 request to transfer $10,000,000 into my savings account by simply giving them my savings account #
Hers the truth: You did NOT really win, you outbidded the rest. LOL
I just won 2 things on ebay to. A digitrax sound decoder, and a genesis sd40-2 with DCC and sound. I checked all the mail order places, and it was still cheaper!!! The decoder was like 50 and the sd40-2 was 175 I think. YAY!! I love ebay!!
Congratulations, there are alot of good sellers on ebay, sounds like you got a good one for the first time. I just won a Walthers Walton and Son lumber for $12.50, the seller wants $25.00 for shipping plus $2.50 for insurance. I understand that I live in Ontario Canada and the seller is lives in NY, but I have bought other similar items and the most expensive shipping was $16.00. This seller has a feedback score of over 100 transactions and a 99.7% rating. The item was put on ebay as opened but not used and all parts included. I think the seller is trying to recoup because the bid was low. Beware**,** and always ask for shipping costs before bidding.
There are a number of unscrupulous sellers out there who deliberately sell low and charge high for shipping because they don’t pay fees for shipping charges, only the selling price. Very good advice from accord - always know what the shipping will be before bidding. It can be quite a shock sometimes.
