I was never really a fan of the orange and white, but I think those would look really cool in death star [:P]
Is that a different style of truck? It’s been awhile since I looked at 6 wheel ALCo trucks, but I don’t remember them looking like that.
I think that those trucks are the 6 axle versions of ALCo’s “high ad” truck.
Somebody will correct me if I’m wrong, I’m sure, but I think that only the IC C636s, and C&O and RDG C630s received that type of truck.
I thought the SP&S 636’s had them as well…
Thank you for the links to the Fallen Flags site. I have been on that site a number of times. There is only the 3 pictures of the Bell Side of the unit, i am hoping for a nice tight shot of the bell housing to finish my ho scale model. From what i understand, the IC and C&O unts are almost identical. Including the infamous bell housing… Thank you all for your assistance
All US built C636s had that style of truck, including the Demonstrators.
Thank you both for the correction on the trucks. I have to confess that I was coming at this from the C630 side (old C&O fan, you know).
Only the second order of C630s for the Reading had the Hi-Ad truck. The first order had the trimount truck. Interestingly, when two C630s with different style trucks were coupled the walkways did not line up. The Hi-Ad equipped locomotive was a few inches taller.
