Posts on the IC&E Yahoo Group list indicate that one span of the bridge over the mouth of the Turkey River where it enters the Mississippi is gone, along with part of the train that was crossing it. One of the list members has eyeballed the scene and is promising pictures soon.

I’m surprised such a washout hasn’t happened before. It looks like it would have been inevitable.

I’m not sure if it is a washout that caused the derailment. The roadbed looked good & high enough in that area, near the Cassville ferry road. But the gravel roads in the area are subject to flooding. Keep us posted.

Ouch - didn’t know this had happened on “My Mainline”. I’ve been down that way before at Turkey River Siding. Any idea as to how long it will take before they get that fixed up?

Last I heard, supposed to be fixed by late Sunday the 4th. Davenport is underwater at the depression, out of service approximently til next weekend.
