There have been several reports that IC&E SD40-2 6211 has been spotted at Davis Junction wearing a large DM&E banner and Christmas lights. Rumor has it that this SD40-2 will lead the CP Holiday Train while it is operating over the former DM&E/IC&E mainlines. I did not hear any mention of if CP will leave the AC4400CW on the train, but I would imagine if they do use the SD40-2 it will most likely be added in front of the AC4400CW.
It is not a rumor anymore, there are photos of IC&E SD40-2 6211 decorated on the ICERail Yahoo group! You have to be a member of the group to view it, but it has a large wreath on the front, snowflakes along the handrails and lots and lots of lights. It also has a DM&E plaque on the sides. Expect it to be added to the Holiday Train while on the IC&E tommorow.
Is there a chance that this SD 40 was originaly a CPR unit ? I can’t view the pics on yahoo.
I think it is a ex-NRE, exx-CP, exxx-UP engine if the information off rrpicturearchives on it is correct. Yeah, the photo won’t work unless you join the ICErail Yahoo group. Hopefully the owner of the photo will post it somewhere else so you don’t have to join the group to see it, it isn’t my photo so until then there isn’t much I can do about it.

I think I’ll pass on that paint job! At least it was painted IC&E! It is interesting that CP sold it to NRE, then sold it to IC&E. Now it is owned by CP again!

If they get lost they’d need an SD40-2 with nose bell painted red to help them find their way…
Yeah another guy on the CP was telling me how the crews were getting yelled at for people on the engine boxcars etc.

Very cool !!! I was still on my way back from Sioux Falls when you were taking that and didnt get a chance to see it. Was going to try today but I think its up in Bellvue right now and mama didnt want to get out of bed lol.
That was a nice nod to the IC&E which ends its life on Jan1 and we all become the DM&E.
