Well, I don’t know about you folks but what with Summer activities, kids baseball and now soccer, I have had a hard time getting any consistent time on the layout. I finished the Picorelli’s Ice Cream parlor a few weeks ago, but it has taken me all this time to get the surrounding roads and scenery in place so that I could install it. Well here it is finally in place. The wiring is done, with different switched circuits for each floor.
I decided to have a paint crew working on the structure. Some folks had suggested that my red was too intense, so this is the explanation!
So it is done and it is time to close the curtains on this one.
There is a lucky chap sitting on the bed taking his shoes off. The ice-cream store may be profitable, but the candy store on the top floor makes a lot more!!
Oh, I wish you’d called me for a reference. Those same guys are painting my bridge. It’s taking them forever! And when the scaffolding gets up to the third floor, they’ll be doing more peeking than painting, I’m afraid.
I’ve really enjoyed this one. Thanks for sharing it with us, and congratulations on a very fine model. (The ice cream parlour, not the blonde on the third floor…)
Thanks guys for the compliments and feedback, I really appreciate it. I have been getting some coaching from some real expert and talented craftsman kit structure builders and it has really helped me develop some competence and techniques for these kind of wooden laser kit structures. The JL Innovative line of kits are relatively inexpensive, not too hard to construct and provided with plenty of detail parts to help flesh out a scene. www.jlinnovative.com If you have the slightest inclination towards building something that is not just a shake the box kit I would give them a try. I certainly have a few hours in this, but it has been a very rewarding experience. The only snag is that now some of the surrounding buildings look rather poor by comparison.
Then again, just about anything would look poor by comparison. Nice job, and if I see the fascia correctly, it’s close enough to make the details worthwhile / visible. A showpiece for sure.
Yep, it is right on the front which I hope does not turn out to be a bad thing in the end. It was also why I put so much effort into the interior as it is very visible. i like to have lots of switches and things for the kids to push which is why the extra effort to wire each floor separately.
