I’m new here, so I hope this isn’t an old question.
I recently bought up my local shop’s entire G gauge stock, which was two of the Bachmann circus sets. I have looked in my dad’s Locos that Baldwin Built book by Fred Westing (I hope I have his name right) and we decided that the loco in the set is generic Baldwin rather than a specific prototype. Is this right?
Can anyone suggest “proper” liveries I can apply to stop the locos looking so much like toys?

The loco is based if my memory is correct on a Baldwin operated by the East Broad Top (EBT) Railway so it is based on a specific engine also Rio Grande Southern operated 4-6-0’s that are very close in appearence to the model. I dont have my reference materials handy so I cant give any engine numbers.
I have two “annies” as these engines are refered to as, ( as in Bachmanns tenth “anniversery” hence “annie”) and they look good in almost any form better than the circus train format. I have a factory Rio Grande Western “bumblebee” and an ex-Blue Comet repainted ala Rio Grande Southern (RGS) style.
Chose whatever livery you want, this type of loco invariably is found on almost any RR at some point in every RR’s history.
Personally I think an EBT and the RGS look the best.

I think I will be veering at least sometimes to the freelance type of railway, if only to keep the ladies of my house happy with pretty things. My daughter likes the circus livery so I may only get to paint one “properly”.
