I would like to know what the two (2) hoses attached to the hood are used for. The hose ends were 4" in diameter and perforated.
Those are not hoses. They are the electrical M.U. connection cables. The “perforations” are for the individual circuits that runs through the cable. They plug in to the receptacle on the pilot deck-there next to the ditch light.
GN Rick is correct, they aren’t "attached’ to the short hood, they are just hooked under the grab iron to hold them.

the nagging question for me is why are they there and not in the dummy plugs on the nose of the engin in the first place? them things arent exactly the lightest things to be moving around and putting in a place like that in the first place

The obvious conclusion would be a management decision to keep crews physically fit.
I didnt see any dummy plugs [:-^]
