Identifying track placement

Hello fello fans,

I just thought I would offer my two cents worth of advice among the experience of this community. This probably applies to beginners, as experienced moderlers have their own methods. I recently had to move my layout which required me to disassemble my layout. I was having a hard time reassembling until I realized that I could use the tack marks that I used to hold my track in place.

I used thumb tacks to pin my track to the foam board while I am constructing my layout. This allowed me to continue running my locomotives while adding to my track. By having the ability to use the holes I was able to identify which specific peices when where.

Check me out: www.trainluver.shutterfly.com. I am just beginning but wanted to share with other modelers out there.

Welcome to the fourms.

Whatever works for one may work for someone else too.

When (if) I ever get to building my dream layout, I plan to build it in sections, though not designed as modules to be moved. This way dismantling will involve cutting both scenery and track, but the track would be able to be left in place on the benchwork.

Don’t plan on moving it, but one never knows. Probably it will be removed by somebody, some day.

Have fun,

Richard
