IDOT listening tour scheduled

A listening tour would be a great idea, if only Governor Rauner would listen to the fact that people WANT the CTA, Metra, Amtrak etc to continue to be options for transportation in Illinois.

Apparently, Gov. Rauner and his Transportation Secretary are not worried about making life a whole lot more inconvenient for the “people” Mr. Nadolski is referring to. Apparently, Gov. Rauner isn’t worried if all those “people” vote for the other guy in four years.

Remember, Illinois is #1 in the country for businesses leaving the state, and in the top three for citizens leaving the state. Illinois is basically bankrupt due to decades of high taxes and even higher spending, and when the money runs out, even those items considered to be necessary get hit. And if people want CTA, Metra, and Amtrak for their travel, then they should be happy to pay for it. However, every suggested ticket price increase results in screaming and cries of disaster, even when a Metra roundtrip is less than a day of downtown parking.

From a pragmatic point of view, this seems to be a pointless exercise given the financial woes of the state combined with the politics in place…If it is meant to bolster political clout in legislative matters…its a hope against hope proposition.

Who cares about subsidies for “public” transportation when already there to enjoy are potholes and gridlock?

If you want to know what is wrong with Illinois, note that none of the proposed meetings are outside the Chicago/collar county area.
