How many times have you heard yourself ask that? No matter how large or small your RR is most of us ask that Q.
We are building a garage 10 miles south of us and I walked out to these folks property line and noticed a 150ft X 250" flat area with a view on three sides to die for.
I know its not the mountains, but this is the best NE can offer around here.
This shot is looking to the SW and its at the crest of a hill. Man, if I could build a GRR here I’d be happy[:I] Cut in some vallies and mountains. The wind and summer hot sun would be the main problems.
I sure would like to get these folks to join in the hobby.

Marty, nice backdrop allright. I somehow invision you running around putting your hands like a movie director to see what a shot would look like. Your like many architects or designers I admire for being able to see the finish project in your mind.[bow] That’s also why I believe your presentation on Garden Railroad rail fanning at the ECLSTS will be wonderful and a success!
It’s very flat Marty.I look out on a green field with 150 year old oak trees.The sheep graze in the spring/summertime.For me,the railway stays in the garden.And in the winter it stays there quite happily.(if it snows though I’ll be there with my camera)

Believe me, it would not stay flat for long. I have a couple of canyons cut on the south side with a curved bridge on the west to catch the sun sets. Maybe even a double track main this time. The telephone wires which run bu the old hwy75 may be in the way.
The wind out of the SE is alwasy bad in the spring which means running after work is hard.
Right now we live in a valley area which helps with the wind.
Oh well, this is what makes work fun once and awhile.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I thought 18’x35’ was a large layout in my yard until I ran a train around it. The thorn in my side was when Naomi says “It does’nt take long for the train to get around does it?” My reply was “Well then we’ll just have to add on…won’t we?!” Our dream and goal is five acres outside the city. I would love to buy an old JD loader and start building…MY WAY! Oh yeah!..what a sight that will be! Later eh…Brian.

I need to send you and Matt a pic of what I have to contend with here. Took the pup for a walk last night only to see two kids sliding off their garage roof and down a snowhill into their yard! Now that’s toooo much snow. Maybe we will get an early Spring! [8D] Later eh…Brian.

Well it’s snowing again. Not much this time I hope. Looking forward to Spring and extending the line. My diesel needs a longer run and a longer train! Time to shop??? Later eh…Brian.
The site Marty was looking at looked pretty good but I would prefer something more undulating. I like to use the problems/ opportunities nature provides.
I would do anything to have abit of the cold that Brian is experiencing; we are nearly ready to throw a party here, we have had a big depression over the Coral Sea and temperatures have dropped to below 30 deg C for the first time for months, oh for some nice cold weather.
Eat your heart out, apart from the mountains, no snow, odd frost in winter may get to -3 and summer rarely gets over 28 Celcius. One day perfect, same as the next.
Only the earthquakes to contend with.
