If you are sick of Christmas, don't look. (many photos)

Spent this weekend working on the annual Christmas tradition.

I start with the deck, which is made up of 2ft by 2ft OSB panels of the kind used to build up floors in basements. They have plastic spacers on the bottom that hold the panels off of the carpet about 1/4 inch. This gives me room to pass wires and electrical cords underneath without fear of cutting them.

Add one slightly oversized scenic element.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Lay track. That’s an electrically isolated passing siding that allows me to run two trains if I want to.

Install the sophisticated non-DCC control system.

Set structures.

Merry Christmans and Happy Holidays!

That’s great. I like that. Our Lionel is performing its Christmas duties here. Merry Christmas

That’s a great setup, I love it. I have a Bachman G scale train I generally run around our tree but due to limited space in our living room since the arrival of our baby I’ve contemplated switching to HO, similar to what you’ve done, thanks for the inspiration.

Happy Holidays to all.

Thats real good. It gets you in the holiday spirit even more. Myself would do one, but I believe the cats would do a Godzilla on the town, and the train [sigh].

That turned out very nicely. [8D]

Very nice!

Mine’s not as fancy, but just a bit older!

Engine is a Lionel Commodore Vanderbilt, pre world war two, pulling three passenger coaches
I also have 2-4-0 steam engine with freight cars, also pre war.

The old track had become so corroded over time( 72 years) that I bought the Lionel Fast Track to run it on, it keeps the dust and carpet nap from getting into the engines.

Hi K4 Kid,

That is a very nostalgic train. Brings back lots of memories.

Keep her polished, she is aging gracefully.

Johnboy out…

Thanks Johnboy!

It’s been around the Christmas tree just about every year since about 1956, maybe 1953 or 1954, but I rememebr 1956 for sure!

I replaced the power supply and the track several years ago. Both trains still operate on their original electric motors. Guess that says something for Lionels quality.
I had both engines professionally cleaned and maintenanced about 6 years ago.

Here’s a view of my other “oldie” Lionel

Is there any room left for presents?[:D]

Not much, they kind of got pushed off into one corner.
