Among others, I wi***he BN, SP and C&NW were still around!

I wish Penn Central was still around, with how they were doing in the 1970’s, it would probably be a shortline today[:D].
SOUTHERN PACIFIC!
[:)] [:D] [8D] [:p]
Clinchfield!!!

Great Northern
SOO Line and WC! Then CNW if i had another chance.

Western Maryland (“The Wild Mary” ) – Fast Freight Service
Lehigh Valley – “The Black Diamond Road”
Southern Pacific Lines
As for the question of what would it be like today…it would be an EMPIRE!! [:D][:)][bow]
I have a feeling that if PC was still around…they would have sold or abandoned most (if not all) of the duplicate trackage/facilities and become profitable…just like Conrail eventually did. I still find it interesting that black diesels now roam the former CR lines around Pittsburgh.
With that said, having PC, P&LE, the Montour, MGA et al, would be a nice change from all the CSX and NS power around Pittsburgh ![]()
GREEN BAY & WESTERN!!! IN ALL THEIR ALCO GLORY!!!
Southern. I hope they would still purchase high-hoods.
B&M
with sd40’s and intermodel
I would have to bring back the PRR. Especially those GG1s on excursion service, or even the t1s. After the PRR, i would bring back the Lehigh Valley, because of all of the C420s they owned, and then the Reading.
I Wi***he old Frisco Railways were still around
Let me add to that: Clinchfield and The Chessie System.

Southern Pacific!! They had lots of COFC, Stack Trains and TOFC traffic.
DRGW - Lots of coal trains.
BN - I liked trains like train 110.
CNW, no doubt. UP oughta give back some of that track…
Chicago and Northwestern, my childhood was spent playing around their freight yards and locomotives. I miss the yellow and green.
I’m truly amazed that the Greatest Railroad that ever existed has not been named. The Baltimore and Ohio!!!
Also, I would LOVE to see the Western Maryland’s tracks re-laid over Saulisbury Viaduct! [soapbox] Bike trail now [tdn]
Reading, B&O, CNJ together - in terms of mutual share ownership, freight interchange, through routing and layout of key routes, they offered a lot of action and a legacy preserved in several key routes that are still in operation today (under CSX or NS).
