If you could have your pick...

Of the five locomotives listed, which would you pick if you could only pick one ?.

I’d personally have to go with the Mikado.

Tracklayer

2-8-2 Mike - the ubiquitous RRing steamer.

Tom

4-8-4, good for heavy freights and passenger.

I don’t think it was your intent, but…
I picked the 2-6-6-2 because I have everything else but the 2-8-0, and don’t need one of those.

Take a 4-8-4 Northern. It´s a good engine, which makes a good look at both, passenger and freight trains. As you can see, it´s a universal loco: suitable for dual service.

i voted for the mike but the pacific was close behind

OzJim

Pacific here!

I’d prefer a Hudson but it wasn’t included in the list.
The Northern would be my third choice only because the CPR had 2 of them, & they were gorgeous looking & both still exist!

Gordon

I put the 4-8-4, those things are beautiful!

Mikes. There were more Consolidations built, but I like Mikes!

i picked the 2-8-0 because its the only one that would fit in my backyard . no idea how i’d get it there , and i’m sure the neighbors would complain , especially if i fired it up and played with the whistle

I’d eally like a B&M berk, but since that isn’t up there, i’ll just go with a Mikado.

If I could only have one? (shudder, shudder…) It would have to be the mike. They are a beautiful well balanced machine and represent the 1920’s very well. My favorite loco of all time is this mike at Steamtown.

the
mallet…it big …it haul lots…arrghhhhhhhhhhaghhhhh.
ahhhhhhhhh HULK LIKE MALLET

Of all the steam locomotives produced, my favorite is the UP Northern and its 80 inch drivers. Power and speed, what more could you want.

Read carefully. He said “if you could only pick one”, not “if you could only have one”. Two totally different questions.

I went for the Connie, but then again, I do like the old timey stuff.

I went for the 4-8-4, even though I want a connie! Anyway, they seem to look great behind freight or passenger, so they get my vote!
Chris

The 4-8-4. Specifically the ATSF 2900.

Tracklayer’s back in fine form!!! [8D][8D]

I picked the 4-8-4 Northern, in SP daylight colors, need something to tug all of my Daylight passenger cars around. [:P][:P][:P][:P]

I have at least one of each of the others. [8)][8)]

Actually I’d prefer a 4-4-0 or 2-6-0 KIT from the 1880s or 1890s. Not that it makes a whole lot of difference except to a very few of us…

If you wish with one hand and …
