If you could operate any class one railroad in the U.S. witch one would it be and why

I think this is an interesting question, of course. I personally would want to operate the Norfolk Southern because of the high hood unit’s theay own. also you got to love that black and white paint scheem!!! Who’s with me? [yeah]

NS is awesome… Of course… God bless all railfans, Justin…

Does this mean you’d have everything rebuilt into a high hood? There’s actally a precedent for that, when Southern acquired the original Norfolk Southern, they did exactly that to their power.

New York Central.

It was a Class 1, after all.

Might consider C&O.

They raised the hoods on low hood units?

The one with the best pay and benefits…

Warren Buffet, much more astute than me, has chosen BNSF and now owns more than 20% of its stock through Berkshire Hathaway. I think I shall follow the leader.

Yes, it always seemed to me like the Southern liked to wipe out every sign of the predecessor.

You got it, Norris! That’s what they did, all right–I believe they were GP38s.

[(-D] Was Dilbert ever a railroader?

As I understnd things, the high hood originally housed the boiler for passenger trains, or other equipment. If a locomotive was built with a short hood, that need, or lack of need, has already been taken care of. To go back and add the tall hood does what? Ad room for a vacation time share in the front of a GP 38? Wouldn’t it have been more cost effective, to just paint over some of the windshield glass?[;)]
