I got this collection a couple of days ago. It’s soooooooooo nice. I can really recommend this one even if you will not see a single Rio Grande train. But you will see the track and scenery from Denver to Glenwood Springs in great detail. Over four and a half hour.
A breathtaking ride of one of the most spectacular stretches of railroad, the former Rio Grande Moffat Tunnel line. Ride the head end of Amtrak’s California Zephyr and see the entire line from Denver, Colorado to Glenwood Springs.
Part 1 takes you from Denver, up the front range, through 30 tunnels, to the famous six-mile long Moffat Tunnel. 87 minutes.
Part 2 takes you from Moffat Tunnel through several canyons including, Fraser, Byers, and Gore canyons, to be junction with the Dotsero cutoff at Bond. 110 minutes.
Part 3 takes you from Bond, down the Dotsero Cutoff to Dotsero, where you join the original mainline from Pueblo. Then enjoy the ride through lovely Glenwood Canyon. 80 minutes.
The view is mostly looking straight ahead and listening to crew commentary. Limited narration. Number of discs: 3
