I purchased one of IHC’s 2-10-2 engines with DCC and I’m having a tough time hooking up the plug from the tender to the engine.
I checked for bent pins and the like but all seems to be in order. Any suggestions getting this connected would be appreciated. The tender part seems to go into the engine but I can push it in very far.
If it is a standard multi-pin connector found on many DCC steamers, or DCC-ready steamers, they normally only need to be oriented reasonably closely to the pin and receptacle axes, and then pressed together. In my experience, they do not get bent, but I suppose anything is possible.
Once I press them home delicately, I take a small jeweler’s flat-tipped screwdriver, or even a wooden skewer, and alternately press each end of the plug, quite firmly, to seesaw the plug home and firmly attached. This process has worked well for me.
If you confirm the orientation of the pins to their right sockets with good lighting and a magnifier, the rest should be just an exercise in breath-holding and controlling any shaking to get them close, then pressed into place.
