IHC Alco C-628

Searched forum for info on this engine and to no avail. Recieved it as a gift and being from my daughter who wants her dear old dad to have more of those pretty WP orange and silver engines, it has to be a keeper[banghead].

Knowing at first glance WP never owed or operated a C-626, let alone used any six wheel trucks (for my time period) when she asked " Its what you wanted isnt it Dad…Yep cant wait to see her run.[X-)][8D][:ust kidding as its the thought that counts.

Any how getting back to the point, have any of you used this product, what are its problems as my layout is down for a time as I rework a panel… really curious about it or what it will take to make it a good runner, if its not one.

best way to make it a good runner is to return it for a Stewart. She’ll probably never know the difference but you will.

They are not bad runners but are very toy like.If my daughter gave it to me I guess I would have to run it as is as not to hurt her feelings.Would I buy it myself?NO!!!

If I had a daughter who loved me enough to try and get something for my hobby that she thought I’d like, I’d make sure I ran the wheels off that puppy to show her how much I appreciated her interest. If it didn’t run well, I’d discretely try to remotor it…but I sure wouldn’t replace it. You’d be surprised how observant a child of any age can be…

Yep… its a keeper and I not getting rid of it and couldnt get rid of it if I wanted, The guilt demons would haunt me LOL. Wonder if a freshley painted Mac 8O would look good mued toooo it.( no flaming just kidding)

I seen a Mac reworked with two motors, was a good puller. I may do it just for the giggles of ot.
