IHC Mikado sound decoder selection?

I bounght this DCC ready (8-pin plug) Mikado from MB Klein after reading a tip on this forum:

It will arrive tomorrow.

I’ve been trying to research the appropriate decoder for it, but I’m lost. The Soundtraxx Tsunami looks interesting, but there are too many choices.

Any help with figuring out what I should be looking for would be great. As well as other sound decoder choices I should consider. I’d prefer PNP, but hardwiring doesn’t intimidate me. I’ve installed several non-sound decoders in some of my father’s older diesels, but never sound.

If I were to install a Tsunami it would be a Medium Steam. You have a selection of 6 whistles and it would all depend what your tastes are.

I don’t get caught up in what whistle is the actual whistle this engine would of had as there isn’t enough choices out there and some of the sound bites offered are not all that great. Digitrax makes sound units but I’m not too impressed with what I’ve heard.

Yes, by all means, the Tsunami medium steam. Great decoder.
