Hi. IHC, as you may be aware, seems to be upgrading its premier line if the newest 2-10-2 is any indication. So, if there is no stock, and no product announcement, I would guess that they might be getting one into production in the next …I dunno, year, two maybe? Just a guess.
They may have pulled it to update it, considering the pretty good response they got with their 2-10-2. I have an IHC Mountain, and it’s a good, smooth-running steamer. Detail’s a little bland compared with the Santa Fe, and of course, it doesn’t have a DCC plug like their Santa Fe (not that I care). That may be the reason–they may think that some re-tooling and up-dating is in order.

Since IHC does not actually make these locos they themselves would not be stopping production. Taking a quick look over on the Mehano web site http://www.mehano.si/?PID=21&CID=39 you can see that the Mountain is still listed in their hobby-line. If you look in their Prestige line I find it interesting that the 2-10-2 is listed as having installed Lok-sound decoders. Anyway, it would suggest that the Mountain is still in production, but that IHC have not recently imported any. I don’t really have a clue what the relationship is here other than manufacturer and importer. I wonder how much influence IHC has on what is produced or if Mehano develops things in a vacuum and simply presents them to IHC. For example, whose idea was it to develop the 2-10-2 as a Prestige model?
