IHC

Any 1 out there heard anything as to the future of IHC…i recently purchased a Milwaukee Road Engine Sold by them but made by Mehano,I know whats become of Mehano but i need a part for the IHC and was hoping they would have it in stock unfortunately there not answering there phones or returning calls as ive left em a dozen messages…and until the Chinese get off there rickshaws i don’t foresee any after market Mehano parts…now if some out there’s got any Mehano parts they would like to share let me know im needing a gear body…dumbest design ever making the tongue that holds the coupler in place apart of the main gear body…

IHC is totally defunct and will not be back. Mehano is attempting to make a come back following financial difficulties. It is unclear if even Mehano will have parts for the locos sold by IHC since I understand that Mehano is revamping and upgrading their line of products.

IHC is as dead as the Dodo and Mehano has closed their production. The new, more upmarket European stuff is manufactured in China and they act as importers only. I doubt that they stock any spare parts for their former range of products.

Well the Milwaukee rd is a popular Mehano line they used the same exact design and engines for the 15 Life-Like Chessie’s ive got so i figured some 1 out there had to have parts …Now from every thing ive been told from high ups in Bachmann and my friend mike at Model Power Mehano isn’t restructuring but has gone like so many others and sold out to the Chinese after there bankruptcy in 2008 and are at this time in china retooling for the Mehano line…who knows any more but now im still seeing new IHC stuff hitting the shelves at several hobby shops ive got dealings with

What you are seeing is undoubtedly just whatever remaining wholesalers’ shelf stock is left being picked up by your local retailers. IHC hadn’t received any new shipments of locomotives in several months prior to the time that they closed up.

Incidentally, you’ll notice that a number of specific IHC locomotives that were issued first in recent years and thus are in shorter supply than the prolifically common IHC Pacifics and Mikes, are rapidly disappearing from the eBay listings. In later years always reasonably good runners, it’s a great loss for the hobby to see these, the last modestly priced line of HO steam locomotives, pass from the scene.

Unfortunately, my friend, you need to start thinking cannibalization; one of the hard “facts-of-life” here in the model railroad community is that it might just take two of these lokes to keep one operational.

Wait a minute guys. I read on this forum that someone was reselling the engines, with a higher sticker price to catch up with the rest of the world. Couldn’t have been that long ago either. Or have I cornfuzzled something elsewith IHC

e-bay what a joke…ive bought several trains off there and there version of excellent ive thrown away…each piece i got required massive amounts of work just to make em run to specs and that’s the 1s listed as (NIB) now ive gotten better stuff from ppl listing it as fair to good mainly cause they didn’t have a clue as to what they had…and about 6 months ago i thought like u said cannibalizing so i bought a like like Mehano just like my IHC 1 it was listed as broken and in need of repair…was missing a coupler and 1 drive shaft had come off binding up the works…paid $6.99 for it and its in better running shape than any of my Bachmanns or Atlases…i contacted the guy and told him how happy i was with it and he said ive got 9 more u can have for $56 including shipping…needless to say i jumped on em there all chessie but so what there awesome work horses ive yet to find 1 i can stall out…id post a pic but don’t know how here and ive yet to get a reply to my asking how to post a pic…

You’re a bit confused here concerning the situation. It is Mehano that is re-organizing its product line, eliminating the modestly priced locomotives and aiming instead to get into the mid range to high-end market. When and if Mehano, themselves, actually begins offering American prototypes here in the States look for them to be priced closer to BLI DCC/sound steamers.

Well, I see that you got your picture to show up. Prior to that I saw that you got the red X. Here’s another link to “What does the red X mean” incase you’re interested: http://cs.trains.com/trccs/forums/t/119392.aspx

Happy to be of some little assistance. Now, if we can get you to try a smaller, more appropriate font in your posts…[:)]

You could sign up to HO Yardsale on Yahoo and post a “Want to Buy” ad for the parts you need or a junker engine for parts.
