my dad stopped over today, he has great p2k ,loco he wanted to show.
Ilove when he comes by,we talk about,th old r.r as he seen everday a 4-6-0
pass by the freeport yard ,back in the day,and has been teaching ,me,more railroading of the old operation,evertime we talk.
And of the way he told me,he rode this train ,from freeport ,to,chicago,every saturday,looked the same way,
anyway,thought id share this moment ,of pics with you guys ,we had a great afternoon

I wish my Dad lived closer! But the Good news is that my Son is interested in making an “N” Gauge layout, and Pops here has just enough stuff to get him started. Of course!

Those P2K IC locomotives are great runners as well as looking good. I have an A-B-B-A set with SoundTraxx in all 4 units. Wait till you see the new Broadway Limited version! Much more detail than even P2K, and very good sound in both the A and B units. Now, if I could just figure out a way to run P2K and BLI together as an A-B-B-B-A… and I’d still have an A left over for a second train.
Don’t be fooled by my present location being SE Arizona – I was raised within 100 feet of an Illinois Central double-track mainline in Southern Illinois, and lived there until I was drafted into the Army in 1960.
I remember the IC steam engines very well, because they had a large roundhouse and engine servicing facility within a half-mile of our house, and it was an easy bike ride to get there and watch when I was young.
For us, the biggest thrill was seeing diesel engines because the IC never totally switched over until the mid-1950’s.
