Is this railroad still around or was it and its name taken by CN. Will Cn paint locomotives in CN colors?
I have seen many freshly painted IC locomotives in the CN paint scheme, but with an “IC” painted somewhere on the cab. Up until this point, I never had a reason to dislike Canadians, but they have taken my favorite railroad away from me.
I think I am going to go shoot some geese, never eat Canadian Bacon again, and always pronounce the letter “O.”
I am also told that CN has done a lot of schuffling with IC motive power.

CN did take over the IC. They are repainting the locomotives into the most recent new CN paint, the one with the web address on it. They are doing the same thing with the former WC SW1500’s also. There are still quite a few IC units around and I’m sure there will be for a long time. Up here in Wisconsin, we have quite a few of them GP40R’s.
Yes, indeed, the IC is no more. It was bought up by CN shortly after
the Illinois Central Historical Society put this blurb on their “A BRIEF
HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE ILLINOIS CENTRAL RAILROAD”

operating essentially under its own name without interruption after nearly
a century-and -a-half since its founding.”
It was operated as the CN-IC for awhile and then CN made the decision to
terminate the practice of differentiating between acquisitions and change
everything to just CN.
IC is being merged into the CN corporate image - just as CV, GTW and DWP were decades ago. Those roads have long used derivatives of CN livery, and even the derivative schemes disappeared over ten years ago when the CN North America lovery appeared.
IC’s image may soon be gone, but it probably won’t be soon forgotten, given that its last president is now president of CN.
