Illinois Railway Museum to celebrate 60th anniversary with 60 electric cars
The electric car event sounds cool. I my opinion the big news is that 1630 might be back. I think it’s been close to a decade that IRM has been without steam. Hope they get her running, if so I will definetly get the kids up there for a ride. They’re 8,9 & 12 and haven’t had the joy of riding behind a steam engine.

Come to the Monticello Railway Museum this summer and your kids won’t have to wait to ride behind steam.
theres a broad street subway car they they converted to run on a trollet wire . rode them when I was a kid . dont know how they did it . seen it on a youtube video . this place is on my bucket list
The traction parade has the potential of being a HUGE event, and a way to bring new visitors to this fantastic operating museum. It will also generate a lot of positive publicity. I applaud the IRM for planning such a big event!
And steam? Sorely missed. It should be a priority to have steam operating here again on a regular basis, with hopefully more than one locomotive restored for operation.
