Minor error: article says, “To correctly position Chicago-based equipment, the early morning St. Louis departure, train 300, will operate on April 16, May 1, and May 15.”
Last date is incorrect; should read, “May 16.”

Why are concrete ties crap? Boston’s T has been through this at least twice themselves, now this.
OK so we want to make sure everything is safe for all, what is this so called " … laborotary test predictive of durability" testing that would reject 115,000 concrete ties? Why wasn’t this caught before installation? Who’s to blame for this one? We’ll probably never know - or hear which government official is to blame. UP should be furious!
