So this additional track will end east of the Fox River? Otherwise they’d have to rebuild the bridge spanning the river to reach the Geneva station.

And no picture at all would be an improvement on this old CB&Q shot shown too many times. Utter non-relevance.

Thats great! BNSF line is triple and it is fast, efficient, and well coordinated. UP-W line can be like that and I hope it does become like the “Racetrack”. Past Geneva west though, it could be expensive to triple track thru Geneva, its long overdue and necessary, both pass… & freight traffic are ever increasing, Good News!!!

AL. The bridge over the Fox River has enough room to put a three track.

The present bridge over the Fox River is double track. A third bridge would be built on the piers on the south side of the existing bridge.

Bridge supports over Fox were built for 4 tracks on narrow centers 100 years ago. Adding even one track now would involve a total rebuild of bank suports that are non-conforming.

How about a fourth track as well? Maybe they should at least look ahead and plan for that for the future.

I heard rumors that the CGW bridge in St. Charles would be moved to Geneva for the 3rd track. Any truth to this rumor?
