Illinois "Where Is It?"

Sorry, no pictures, just clues.

  1. This place was the site of a major train derailment( CSX line from Decatur), resulting of 3 explosions from the train, all about an hour apart. No one was hurt in this incedent. You can occasoinally see it on TV on “amazing video” shows. (if no one gets this one, I have a givaway hint)

  2. Situated on the UP mainline between Chicago and St.Louis, site of a smail yard, old roundhouse, and the orign of an old branch to Danvile,IL is also a crew change-point.

Tuscola, otherwise known as the best place in the world to watch trains, with the possible exception of 12 other places in Illinois.

Gabe

No, but your close to BOTH locations.

That’s right, they are seprate places!!

A general hint: Both are in central Illinois

So if you hav a guess, might as well say it!

Is #2 Newman Illinois?

No, but Newman is just east of No.1

Also close to No.2

I’m going with Crescent City and Villa Grove

DING DING DING!! Clue #2 has been answered!! It is indeed Villa Grove!

Clue #1 Has yet to be answered , though (hint: between Decatur and Newman, Closer to Newman)

50% correct. Sounds about right for me. Crescent City! That was a good one! I jumped to conclusions as soon as you mentioned explosions and video I instantly recalled my recently viewed TP&W dvd.

Is #1 Galt, Illinois?

No it is not

Remember: between Decatur and Newman,IL

What is your avitar a picture of? It looks like an overturned grand piano?

It’s my 1.5 inch scale (1/8) Fairmont Speeder.

Has a 5 HP Briggs motor in it, and you can ride on it.

Runs on a guage of 7.5 inches

Any more guesses on clue #1?

Is it on the former B&O line?

yes

Murdock. Sept 1983 ?

BINGO! The answer is in fact Murdock!

Maybe I’ll do this again one of these days, but make it a bit easier!

Camargo Il. I think it was 1982, I was in Champaign about 30 mi. NW of there and could see the flashes!!! Greg

Crazy Delmar:
