This place was the site of a major train derailment( CSX line from Decatur), resulting of 3 explosions from the train, all about an hour apart. No one was hurt in this incedent. You can occasoinally see it on TV on “amazing video” shows. (if no one gets this one, I have a givaway hint)
Situated on the UP mainline between Chicago and St.Louis, site of a smail yard, old roundhouse, and the orign of an old branch to Danvile,IL is also a crew change-point.
