I'm back in the CTT fold!!!!

Just re-subscribed to CTT (I let it lapse last year). I wasn’t all that happy with OGR. Plus the CTT Christmas (am I allowed to say that word?) issues are VERY cool [swg]

Dep

That’s great. I still go issue by issue at the book store but I am considering re-upping soon. The folks at CTT are a good bunch. Then again they still get my $$$ LOL! My problem is throwing them away. I think I’ll find a doctors office to dump them at.

I sure hope this December Christmas issue is better then last year’s. The Christmas topics in last December’s issue was essentially non-existant.

Earl

Marty: Good to see you!!! [:)]

Earl: I seem to remember lots of comments last year about the Christmas situation. I hope CTT hasn’t gone “politically correct” and decided to eliminate Christmas coverage because it’s a religious holiday. Christmas has been linked to toy trains ever since toy trains came into existence. I wasn’t very happy with the Christmas coverage in OGR.

Dep

Dep,

Welcome back, so what’s new? Has any new trains fround their way to NM?

Hi Don!!! Only “new” stuff I’ve got coming is a Lionel Type “Z” transformer I grabbed off E-Bay. I’ve been looking for a good price on a green 5-stripe scale Lionel or MTH GG-1, but they are all pretty pricey. I’ve also been tracking one of those Copper Range Ore Train sets on E-Bay. I think that would be neat under the Christmas tree. [:)]
Also picked up a couple of good books from Amazon:
Greenberg’s Repair and Operating Manual for Lionel Trains, 1945-1969
Greenberg’s Guides Lionel Trains Pocket Price Guide 2009

Mike, I doubt that CTT has any problem with Christmas as a religious holiday. In any case, their interest or lack of it would surely have to do not with that but with a couple of its secular aspects, that is, the circumnavigation of Christmas trees by toy trains.

Like many things, coverage is dictated by what we receive or what we can photograph. This year we have a pretty good batch of Christmas material.

cool looking forward to it.

Me too!!! Christmas and toy trains seem to just go together. I can remember being taken to downtown Chicago as a kid and going into the department stores and seeing the HUGE layouts of operating toy trains. I would stare fascinated for hours. My Mom always knew exactly where to find me. [:D]

Dep, I had seen that you started back posting. Unlike Buckeye, we had missed you and some of your humor. Hope all is well. I guess you still live in the “dryer” part of the country.

I renewed for 3 years.

CTT grabs my attention more so than the others. I appreciate the nice covers with bold print and good layout. And inside the pictures just seem the best. Really like the layout building series too. Overall, when I pick up CTT it makes me want to run trains and build layouts.

I also want to see a good Christmas related issue.

Hi Chief!!! Hope you finally got those MTH switches sorted out [;)]
I missed all of you guys. Good to be back.

Deputy,

Welcome back.

You are correct, Christmas and trains mostly go together, not only under, or by the ‘Christmas Tree’, but also, as Christmas gifts.

Ralph

Thanks Ralph. And well said. They ARE great Christmas gifts.

Hey Dep…Welcome HOME!!! [swg]

I, too, am looking forward to the Christmas Spectacular Issue of CTT!!!

Hi Anj!!! Good to see you. [:D]

I don’t understand how anyone can honestly complain about CTT or OGR. Certainly some issues are more to one’s taste then others. Both are wonderful publications, and in my opinion, complement each other nicely. Remember, it wasn’t that long ago we had no magazine dedicated to 027 and 0.

Harris Spanier

It’s easy, when they cost $40 for 9 issues. I don’t know about you, but my money tree died a LONG time ago. So I have to make a choice in train mags. CTT has had, overall, better articles and reviews FOR ME than OGR. I gave CTT a chance for 1 year, then OGR for one year. Of the two, I prefer CTT, so I am going back to it. Plus this forum has a lot to do with my choice too. [:)]

Dep

Dep I basicly do one year of OGR then One year of CTT back and forth as I like them both and just can’t justify both at one time because of the cash out put also. I like both but like you I prefer this forum. Just seems a more polite forum to me now with that said we do have a our moments here also. [:-^]
