Hi Jesse and welcome back. I often thought of you over the past year. I always enjoyed your modelling perspective and creativity. I’m very sorry to hear your bad news, but hopefully things will work out and you can model even bigger and better than ever. Good luck friend.
Welcome back!! Being an EMT takes a special type of individual. The Emergency Medicine profession will miss you. Glad you are still with model railroading.[:D]
I am really glad to hear you are up and about. You were indeed missed, and many thoughts and prayers were coming your way.
As said by others, Thank you for your service to your fellow citizens, I’m sure it is well appreciated. Some times it just doesn’t seem fair that these things happen. We have a saying here that might work for you and this is it " No one said it would be easy or fair, but they did say it will be worth it." So hang in there good Buddy and keep checking in even if you don’t have modeling news. Just keep us updated on your day to day activities and progress. We are interested and concerned for your well being.
I missed your presence on this forum. Every time I came across one of your emails, I settled in for a pleasant time to read your prose. You are the most eloquent writer here. The way you describe what you are up to comes from such a different state of mind from the rest of us here, that your writing transcends model trains.
Sorry to hear of you "mis"adventures and thank you for your service as an EMT!
Losing your home is not just an afront for you, but to many, many others who lost their homes due to financial reasons too, in this economy. Many did NOT land on their feet. You are not alone there.
I planned on expanding my layout, so I took it down to bare tracks only and packed away everything else, but can’t afford to do so now. SO you are not alone there.
You will hear form many who remember your postings, and some who just met you , I am sure. SO, you are not alone there.
E will have special thoughts and prayers and will add an extra prayer candle lit for you and yours. SO you are not alone there.
Keep us informed!
Again, thank you for your service as an EMT, I have had the misfortune of meeting many. many EMS/EMTs in my life…they are all great…it takes “special people” to do those jobs! [bow]
Let me add a big ‘Welcome Back’ to you, also. I am so sorry to hear about your misfortune and I pray for a good recovery for you.
On a personal note: I suffered kidney failure last year and ended up on dialysis for some time, but I also found out that as I was recovering that the hobby offered a lot of therapy. I wasn’t able to get a lot done, but I really think that what I WAS able to accomplish little by little helped get my health back on track. It took my mind off the other problems. I’m back fairly full force now, working on the railroad–I think you’ll find that as you get back into the hobby, each little project will help your spirit overcome your injuries.
Again, so glad you’re back with us. I really look forward to your future posts.
You know Tom, your right, just planning a new layout in my head today has brought joy into my day.
I recall there were some layout drawings on this site some where that showed “in-line” layouts I just don’t remember how to get back to them, I’ll have to poke around the site more and I also can’t find how to get back to the dinner???
Oh well, I’m sure I’ll figure it out in time.
It was a sad day when I had to wrap and box my trains, all along not knowing if I’d ever see them run again and I had just started two of my Grandsons on their first sets but they had to move away, I’m hoping the time we did share playing with my layout have inspired them to continue on.
I guess my first step is to measure the room I have and begin by drawing some layouts that will fit, I’ll post some of my designs when I’m done craeting a few examples then I’ll run them by you guys here.
I see how model rail roading can be therapeutic !!!
Good to hear from you and all the people here, it has been heart warming to say the least.
As you think of plans for a shelf type layout, you might think of having it as a piece of something larger, which hopefully you will be able to build someday. My dream room is being “used” (temporarily I hope) for a sons bedroom. I have a smaller space available, but as I begin to make plans for that area I am doing it with the idea of making the sections something that are parts of the original dream.
