Hello everyone. It’s been a while since I last made a post here on the Model Railroader forums. Last May I had a serious car accident and I did not go home until August. My layout had fallen into disrepair due to being suspended at a stressful angle all summer. Now that I am more or less permanently in a wheelchair I was unable to continue work on the layout. Last week I rented a space where I was able to have the layout reassembled and I have access to all portions. I am now in the process of repairing the damage and will then continue to modify it from a desert southwestern locale to a southeastern one. I’ll post some more pictures soon.
Bob:
Sorry to hear of your misfortune and hope that things are getting better for you. Happy to hear that you have a good place for your layout. Good luck with the repairs and keep us informed of your progress.

Was wondering where you had gotten too.
Very sorry to hear of your misfortune, but so very glad to hear you have recovered to the point of making the effort required to get back to your layout.
I wish you well and don’t be a stranger. We always have a good time in the Diner doncha know?
Will be looking forward to following your progress there in Gatorland.
Johnboy out…and watching over his shoulder for those Gators. [%-)]
Good to see you back!
As far as your layout?
You can do it!
Keep those pictures coming!

Bob,
good to see you again!
You have done a marvelous job in “moving” your layout from the dry country to a little wetter grounds… Hope to see more of it…
One thing I am considering now that I have my layout where I can work on it is whether to remove the mountain and tunnel. By doing that I could extend a spur line from the town to another industry, probably a cement/rock industry. The mountain and tunnel take up a lot of space and don’t look southeastern in my opinion especially since the entire layout is at the same grade. The area on one side of the mountain got so messed up from the stresses put on the benchwork that it will require major reworking anyway. I am also modifying that area to have a lift out section to allow me in my wheelchair access inside the layout.
So do I need to keep the mountain or not?
Bob, sending healing prayers in your direction. Way to be quite the trooper and not let anything get you down and keep you working on your layout.
Hey Bob…are you the same Bdewoody from HyperScale?
If it was me I would dump the mountain, maybe have a rolling hill that you can cut a path through for the train to reach your industry. Just an idea and opinion.
Ray
Yup, the one and only (that i know of)
