Nice work and congratulations! Your success has inspired me to try painting an engine over Christmas. When you weather it, how about some updated pics. I’d love to see the completely finished product.
However, the pics are really big and load very slowly. Any chance you can cut down on the size?
That is pretty good work!. I painted a pair of SD24’s last year and decaled them for the C&O… I guess they came out ok. Maybe the next project will see me do better.
I have been building structures for my Falls Valley Railroad from old AHM kits and such… No time for engines “Yet”
nice job,the seperation between the colors looks very nice,If you find that you go looking else where for your decals,EL"S trains listed on nmra website is an exellent source for custom decals.Very thin film alps printing good price and service. He has done several custom runs for me.He will print what ever you design, just a thought for future reference.
well, yes it was a bit of a beater. As for superdetailing, i dont see why not, just have to find the pieces i need. Now as for this decal printer, I can print my own decals, i wouldnt bother paying somebody to do it for me, unless of course, he makes dry transferres, if so does he have a website?
I hope I you read this in time as I made a mistake in one of my earlier responses to you.
Regarding Clear Coating:
I suggested to you earlier that after you sprayed your model with water based acrylics like Poly Scale or Badger, to follow up with CLEAR GLAZE. —DON’T!
My friend, Cmarchand reminded me that Clear Glaze is solvent based and made by Floquil! Apparently my brain wasn’t firing on all cylinders and was still in the “Solvent Based” paint mode as I used them for two decades [:p][|)][D)] before switching to acrylics!
I suggest using the Poly Scale or Badger ModelFlex Acrylic Clears. They come in: Gloss, Satin, and Flat. Neat thing is that decals can be applied on top of the satin finish. After decaling you can apply it again, and you’ll have a model that looks like the sun has “just started” to fade it a little.
Let us know how you’re doing!
Cheers, amigo! [:D][8D][C):-)][tup]
well, thanks for your concern, luckily a helpful man at my LHS asked me about this while i was buying a clear satin. Anyway, I ended up with the poly scale and it looks great. Still waiting on decals though
