OK, I’m not what you would call a social climbing type of person, and I feel that you need to take life’s rewards as they come, but HOW DO I GET STARS BY MY NAME?
What do they signify?
I’ve been trying to edit my profile some, as I was tired of being the anonymous guy.
Oh, and by the way, I’ve just been a member since Tuesday, and already I’ve had more fun here than ANY other site. You guys and gals are great, funny, informative and the most helpful group, bar none!
Being a lone wolf is great as long as you have 156,000 other people to do it with!
The stars represent the number of posts you’ve had. I think I have two blue stars, as I don’t post too often, and there are some with thousands of posts and I think the highest I’ve seen is five gold stars.
Just be patient, stars will come in time lol.
And glad to see you’re enjoying yourself, it is a great forum.
Welcome Phil!
No sense being jealous.
As Metro said, the more posts you do, the stars will come.

i see lots of stars…every time i wack my head on the benchwork under the layout…uck…uck…uck…it’s a joke son…it’s a joke…
One other thing. Don’t assume the stars mean that we know what we are talking about either.

Stars usually mean you’re more active in the forums.

Philnrunt,
Relax. Don’t look at stars as a “status” achievement. Enjoy exchanging information with fellow modelers and railfans. The quality and value of the info is what helps us here. The stars simply come as a by product.
By the way, don’t forget to update your profile by filling out the Bio and Hobbies categories. Let us know a little more about you so we can be more helpful when you post questions. Most of us will agree that age group and interest will help shape a good reply to a modeler who has posted a question.
For modelers a lot of the info on this forum is priceless! This is whether you answer posts, create new posts, or point someone to another post to find answers. I did this recently when someone asked about RDCs pulling trailers. There was already a highly detailed post on it, so I pointed the person to that post. Litltle things like this are what can help you accumulate stars.
Don’t be in a rush. A lot of guys will just reply to a topic with words like: Yeah! or OK. Guys that do this too often make it obvious that they more concerned about getting stars than giving helpful info.
Enjoy the forum and learn as much as you can.
You can always boost your post count in the “Neverending Story” thread… [swg]
But then again, some of us don’t need no high stinkin post count to prove anything. [:P][;)]
50 posts= 1 Purple Star
100 posts= 2 Blue Stars
500 posts= 3 Green Stars
1000 posts= 4 Orange Stars
2000 posts= 5 Red Stars
I haven’t seen anyone with more than that.
