I'm looking for enlightenment...... WHAT IS A COALVEYOR?????

Browsing on eBay, I came across a COALVEYOR made by Atlas. Living in the UK and new(ish) to US model railways I am a little confused as to what one of these is…

I am familiar with BETHGONS and COALPORTERS, but not COALVEYORS!!! Everyhing I have tried to find out on the internet (when I used Google) shows me models or appears to mention Canada. Am I to presume that these COALVEYORS are the Canadian version of a Bethgon??? If not, does any railroad company in the US operates/uses them? Any info gladly welcomed…

A VERY confused[?]

Eric

Coalveyors were an early version of the Bethgon Coalporters. I’m not familar with any US roads that ran them, only the Candian or Canadian roads. Most have been either retired or sold off to leasing companys.

ntypeman, can you describe the car you saw on ebay? Was the Coalveyer a string of individual cars or was it a segmented, articulated, single car.
