I'm not gonna. No, I'm not gonna. Ah heck.

Some of you know that I went to Timmy’s Immodium (Timonium)

First of all MisterBeasley, No one recognized me and there we’re any Space Mouse groupies.

Anyway right in the middle of the show, and by far the most crowded was the MTH display. They had had so many people that the other vendors looked pitiful in comparison. Anyway, it rocks. The engines have synchronized chuff and they had an LED display any could watch in as scale speed increased one mile per hour at a time.

mthrules, you were right MTH dominated Timonium.

Now I think the coolest thing was the smoke. It looked so real. Now I don’t like the smell of most of the engines, but one was different. It smelled good. The guy at the booth explained. You take a pan of water and bring it to a boil. You chop up 4 Garcia and Vega cigars in to 1 inch pieces. Continue boiling until there’s about 1 inch of brown sludge in the bottom and remove all the cigar pieces. Carefully strain the broth through cheese cloth any you have the smoke fluid. I thought about this and figured this is pretty cool. I can smoke cigars in the basement and my wife will think I’m running trains. Of course, I’ll smoke a better cigar than Garcia and Vega.

Well that was enough fro me. I gave up my Redwood Empire dreams and put some money down on a K-4 and I’m going to drag coal from one end of Pennsylvania to the other.

Thanks mthrules, I never should have doubted you.

By now either you figured this out or you have one leg about a foot longer than the other cause I’ve been pulling on it.

Tell me…I figured you were “pulling our legs” when you first mentioned the oh so infamous member “MTHRules.” But, on what part? That MTH dominated the show? That you put money down on the K4?

I assume it all is apocrypha, correct?

The smoke fluid concoction is great. I wonder how many are going to try it?[(-D]

Spacemouse,

How’s that K-4 run. I’m too modern for it but I’m interested in if its a good product after all the flack MTH has been getting on the forum.

I have only seen a video of the HO K4 Pacific by MTH, but even then, it was quite impressive. I can’t wait to see a few of them in person.[:D]

Chip,

As I began reading your post, my mouth hit the floor. I thought to myself, “Chip has either been pithed, or mthrules has somehow taken possession of both Chip’s mind and identity and is now walking around in his body?!?” All I could think was, "Is this REALLY happening…?

Well, all I have left to say is…“Just call me Gimpy” Hook, line, and sinker…He’s been reeled in!!! You rascal!!! [(-D] [(-D] [(-D]

Signed,

“Walter Brennan”
(aka Tom)

P.S. Randy and Mark reported in over on the Layout forum. Sounds like you guys had a good time together.

Spacemouse,

Is this what you’d call “trolling for trolls?”

Naw, I didn’t bite. I must admit, I was surprised for the first couple of lines, but the second "mth rules, sorry for doubting you…’ made me go, “Aha, he IS kidding.”[:D]

The Mouse has been “MTHRules” in disguise all this time. TROLLER, what’s Bergies E-Mail address?
Never mind the PRR guys will get you for the “dragging coal behind” the K-4 remark! Get out the asbestos suit, the flamers are circleing as I type!
How is the new car?
Will

Don’t have one yet. May pick one up tomorow if things work out. Gonna spend the day pulling a 50 CD changer out of the Jeep (along with some other things).

Nope trolling for freinds.

Well, I’m still so new that I bought it hook, line and sinker. Though I did wonder when you and mthrules got to be such good buddies.
Jarrell

Realizing the K-4 was a dominant engine with many made. Why with several K-4s already on the market did MTH decide on this one?

The Southern 4-6-2 is by far a classier engine in my mind but no one has even attempted to make it… Why?

Spacemouse, now a question for you. If you get this “beast” will you be satisfied with any of your other engines? This could have dire consequences.

Fergie

I knew it was coming and it was still a good ride!

Chip, was that trolling for friends or fiends?

For the record. I am still modeling the Redwoods. I am not buying a K-4. I have enough engines to buy to get one in the wrong era and in the wrong part of the country.

If I 've started something it was not intentional or intended to be a “dig”. I missed last weeks events and I really didn’t mean to start anything. I was just disapointed when another K-4 was released as there are so many other good engines out there that no one has manufactured yet.

With a roster of 25 Steamers in my Fleet everytime I get a new addition with more “bells and whistles” it means one of my other pride and joys starts to collect fur balls as it takes a back seat. It’s a bit of a shame but I fear human nature.

Fergie

Well if you have an empire anything like mine you would have a little of this and lot of that and that’s great as diversity makes for a great modelling adventure.
Canada never got to see Articulateds on it’s mainlines yet I have three.

My biggest problem is DCC with sound I have another 16 engines to upgrade to sound. This will be costly. I guess my “point” was once you go tothe next level it means everything has to be upgraded.

Fergie

Fergie,

You started nothing. The whole thread was a joke. MTH didn’t even have a booth. I’t was my sick sense of humor.

Isnt progress grand, unfortunately we’re too soon parted from our cash! I am glad that someone else is singing the “why a K4 song” besides me. There must be a huge PRR maket out there in MTH mind. Guess we will have to see if once the “Jones and the keeper uppers” market is met if the price comes down conciderably.
Will

I was gonna say, I am proud to say I didn’t venture past the display layouts to look at ANY of the tiplate/hi-rail tables, so I didn’t know if MTH was even there or not. They actually were at the last Allentown meet, although their display was quite small compared to Weaver’s

Odd though it is, I gotta say I was impressed by the Lego thing. I had cases full of Legos when I was a kid, I loved those things. And the good thing about a Lego train - the guy running it went too fast on one of the curves and it just flew off onto the floor. And into pieces. But it’s Legos - you just put it back together again, if you can remember how. Beats what happens to most scale models if they hit the floor…

DARN, DARN, DARN

Hook, Line and Sinker!

And he’re I was worried I’d offended someone.

[:I]

I agree with Randy about the Lego - back when I ran them there were only three locos (all European - you could have a generic electric high-speed train, a little 4-wheel diesel switcher, or a reasonable model of a German/Austrian “Crocodile” electric). The new F-units and GPs look pretty good - amazed how accurate they can be given they’re built from Lego bricks!

Chip’s post had me worried - thought he’d gone over to the dark side there until I came across the bit about making smoke oil from cigars…
