Imperial Salons, C&O G.W. version, and what makes one?

Trying to keep title short but informative. I’m trying to fiind pics of the George Washington’s Imerpail Salon (Heavyweight version) to loosely replicate the Spectrum version. From what I know of Salon cars, they are Combines, part coach with a large baggage door. Is this true for what I need?

Also, what makes a Salon a salon, and why are they Combine style cars?

AFAIK there isn’t a type of car generally called a “salon” car?? It could be a title given it by the C&O, for a car other roads would call a lounge or bar car??

I know railroads sometimes had lounge cars or smokers that were combines. If a particular train didn’t have to carry mail or express, it usually only needed a small area for baggage, so it used a combine. MDC’s old “Pullman Palace” combine was based on a Pullman car that was about 1/4th baggage with the rest being a lounge.

I wondered, since Burlington also called similar car(s)? salons, and I;ve heard it tossed around another road as well

The heavyweight Imperial Salon series were built in 1930 for the George. They were chair cars with single seats on one side of the aisle, and double seats on the other. There were also some built as divided smokers with double seating for 16 in the smoking section.

For some reason I can’t seem to find my photos of these cars, but I will continue my search. I will edit this post when (if) i find some.
