RE: Rumors Concerning RR Custom Paints

RR Custom Paints has suffered greatly from many unfair attacks recently. Many of you have undoubtedly heard the rumors and lies. This is why I am writing directly to you.

I will freely admit that we, here at RR Custom Paints, have had our problems. Many of you have complained about our delivery dates, but I assure you that your words have not fallen upon deaf ears. We work tirelessly to get your product out on time. However, since this is a small, family-run business, we do have problems handling the great volume of orders.

This, it seems, is the origin of our current problem. A few individuals have gone to great lengths to cause problems not only for us, but also for you, our valued customer. These individuals have even gone to the extent of criticizing the quality of our work. We will not tolerate this slander. We stand by the quality of our work.

This awful situation began 3 months ago. We discovered some unkind statements about our business on a popular “Newsgroup.” My reaction was simple. I responded with a posting of my own. I gave the readers an explanation of the truth.

Unfortunately, this situation only got worse. More lies came. More scandalous statements posted. Then the unexpected happened. The troublemaker called out his buddies and began a vicious campaign against us. They posted some the most heinous things one could imagine. Faulse complaints were sent to our advertisers asking them to stop running our ads. Believe me, your worst nightmares aren’t even close to what was being posted right before my eyes.

In a defensive move, I posted a few pictures displaying the quality of our work along with so

I believe that he is probably referring to the Newsgroup rec.models.railroad where firefights and hate and discontent are very common. I stopped posting anything there several years ago although I do still look over some of the posts a couple of times a week.

Roger

Thank you gentlemen. I appreciate the input. Yes rec.models.railroad is DEFINATELY one place to stay out of if you love Model Railroading and the wonderful people who share it. Most who participate on the postings there are extremely vicious and spiteful. Thier is no monitor on that site and the “regulars” are not afraid to post scandalous lies and horrendous statements. We are honest reliable people who love the hobby and are very proud to serve those who need custom painting services. Thanks again!!

Mark Mason - RR Custom Paints

I for one never read anything about your business on this or any other Forum.

Mark,I haven’t even heard of your company till now.Anyway,I never judge a company by what I read in the forums. If I did I would not buy Atlas,P2K,Athearn,Walters and other none Kato companies, come to think of it I wouldn’t buy Kato either…According to some posters the way they sound every made is junk or incorrect…So, I put no stock in these reviews of these companies products as I use them all except Kato.
I deal with a local custom painter and have for years,a guy got mad and started a smearing the custom painters name and work.We that dealt with this man for years defended him and his work. The lies and rumors finally stopped after doing some damage. The custom painter did recover in grand style. So,Good luck to you!

Hi Mark,

You just do the custom painting, not the custom work, right? I am wanting a few SD70MAC BN executive schemed diesels for my coal unit trains. I already have a few SD60M units, using Rail Power products and a few detail parts via other companies. I use Athearn SD40-T chassis to power my SD60Ms.

Kato is supposed to be releasing an executive version of the SD70MAC, but it is not the BN version, just the BNSF. I seen your paint jobs for the executive scheme BNs on your site. Lovely work! Was just wondering if you guys did the custom work too.

If not, I guess I will have to pester Rail Power to build a BN version SD70MAC shell and chassis.

Thanks!

We can do some modifications. Tell us what would have to be done. If we can do the job we’ll be glad to provide it to you. Thanks!!

Mark Mason - RR Custom Paints

So Mark, you mean to say there is a custom painter who ISN’T behind schedule?? Could you send me his name please?? LOL

Mark,

At this point and time, I will have to see what Kato releases and if Rail Power Products are going to release an SD70MAC shell and chassis.

Thanks for the reply.

EDIT: *Just saw Selector’s post. Whatever happened to them? The weblink doesn’t work anymore

Al must have resurrected this post because he is suffering from his recurring between-the-ears-impotancy(sic). We understand Al! we all hope that this will not interfere with that standard of arrogance which we have all come to know and love!
