I am going to lay a few Atlas #6 code 83 HO turnouts and I was interesting in doing what I can to improve their electrical reliability, (particularly the points and closure rails) before laying them. I seem to remember some articles about this. Any suggestions or can you direct me to an article or website? Thanks - Nevin

Nevin,
You are wise to consider this problem at this stage of the game. I have replaced several Atlas turnouts with Peco and/or Shinohara and eliminated the problems that way, but I like Harold’s suggestions. Certainly Atlas is easier on the budget and if you don’t mind a few minutes per turnout as he shows on his website you can resolve the issues in an economical manor.
I have one particular Atlas that has begun to cause problems on my layout and I believe I wil try his methods on it.
Cheers,
Ed
Thanks, Harold this is exactly what I was looking for. - Nevin
