Improving Photos on the Forum

Hi,

I’ve taken 3 photos, in different threads, and touched them up so that they were better to look at (sharper, eliminate dark overcast, improving the look in what is in shadow, etc.). I have just found that 2 photos were deleted by the moderators. Since they didn’t see fit as to tell me why they did this in a personal email, I’m asking them to tell me why through the Forum. Perhaps they can also explain why they eliminated 2 photos, and not the 3rd?

Blaine

Looks like some of your photos were deleted by Photobucket, not by moderators on this forum. If you “Improved” someone else’s image without their OK and posted it here, the original photographer might have asked Photobucket to remove it. Or Photobucket might have done it on their own if it’s a copyrighted image.

Since you provided no information on which threads contained these photos, it’s hard for anyone to tell you what happened.

Looking at your recent posts, it does appear that Photobucket removed the pictures. From your comments, it would seem that you took other people’s photos, altered them and then posted them. From the perspective of Photobucket, this might constitute copyright infringement, and they try to control that sort of thing.

I don’t think the MR forum had anything to do with this. Photobucket was probably just applying generic rules. You might want to check their Terms and Conditions (which you probably clicked “I accept” on) to see which toes you’ve stepped on. I’m sure it wasn’t personal.

Blaine,

Byron and MB are correct. Photobucket is the one who removed the pictures, not the moderators.

Hi,

I would like to thank everyone who replied to my initial post on this thread. It was while reading those posts that it occurred to me what actually happened.

After I “committed my random act of kindness”, I blindly went in to Photobucket and did some cleaning of “old” photos. I deleted the photos myself. I didn’t realize at the time that those photos had to remain where they were in Photobucket, in order to see them on the Forum. I know that now.

I would beg forgiveness to those of you whom I thought had deleted the photos. I apologize profusely, and if you could see how red my face is, you would know I am sincere.

With the utmost humility,

Blaine

No problem, Blaine. Glad you figured out what happened. [:)]

I changed from Photobucket to Tinypic because they censored too much, some of my pics disappeared that I had of some classic art as being “immoral”!?!

I also lost some images for no reason whatsoever so I “binned” the Bucket!

Another thing to remember, do not move a photo to another location in your album. The Trains.com link will not follow. I tell everyone to figure out what albums you might need in your account. Uploading photos can kind of get out of control if you do not figure out what you need in advance. It can be difficult to find a particular photo in your account.

I have been using a nice Open Source photo application called Gimp for over five years for modifying photos before uploading… They do not look for money either.
