In with a new table.

Morning Men. Make sure to check the oil and to adjust your shoulder holster.

I started up HO after many years and ad libbed as I went along. I found new directions and wound up with a crawl under and glueing the end of boards back on that I had sawed off before so I could have a bigger radius etc. . Everything worked but it was a pain in the knee everytime I went under that crawl hole entrance to the controls.

So this last week after conferring with my priest and my hobby store curmudgeon (why are hobbystore owners always a grump?) I tore it all out. If my picture uploads you will see my new table. It is L shape with the right leg 10 ft and 8 ft on bottom of L on far wall and 24 inchs wide. On the near end is a 60 x 60 inch deck and on other end of the L is a 48 x 48 inchs deck. This is the fun part laying out the new RR.

I am sure this will grow to some real fun and no crawl hols. Glad for any feed back. Regards.

ps They are trying to hide the how to attach a foto so I dont have a pic. [:'(]

Welcome to the forums.

Since I don’t see a picture I’m going on what I understand from your description. Your basic shelf at 2’ wide sounds fine, but I am a little concerned about your ends. A 48" square if it is not accessable on more than one side, you may end up with another pain in the knee access hole. The 60" square would be even harder to reach across. 30" is considered about the maximum reach for most folks and that depends on amount of scenery, buildings and the like, as well as the layout height, your height and arm length. If you can get all around the 60" square, you should be alright. If not, pain in the knee again.

Good luck,

Richard

I think I would find a new hobby store.

Don’t see much there to provide feedback on other than I hope that the 60 x 60 deck is accessible all the way around. Otherwise it is going to require a pain in the knee crawl hole to get to much of the trains located there.

Just post the picture on the web somewhere and use the “insert media” icon, or standard “img” html tag pointing to its URL.

Wait a minute!

Your parish priest is calling the shots on your layout?

LOL

What did you do? Confess your mishaps with your layout? What was your penance, if I might ask?
