Indiana and Ohio #4082 on the ADBF line.

Last week I saw the I&O #4082 locomotive parked on the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road split. The next day it was gone. Does anybody have any ideas of why it would be waiting there? I figure, there were no other cars that got picked up or dropped off and if there was another train that needed an extra locomotive, why have it picked up there? That split is many miles from Detroit or another junction in Ohio. So, maybe someone might know something or maybe not, I’m just wondering.

The IORY is part of Rail America, a company made up of several short lines and regionals. Here in Springfield, Ohio IORY has a small yard. They handle alot of grain and lumber in this area. There are several RA subsidiaries in the Michigan area. That is my best guess.

I&O 4082 may have been at Riga on the ABDF because:

A.) It was bad ordered and could not move any further until repaired.

B.) Power for a grain train.

C.) Crew was running light engine from Flat Rock to Delta and expired under the Hours of Service.

Where was IORY 4082 parked at, out by the switch onto the DTI North Sub (at least that is what it used to be called). Or down by the bar? And what time of day was this spotting?

Bangor & Aroostook power was often seen in the late '90’s in Iowa working on the Iowa Northern. Same deal - the B&A was (is still?) owned by the same company as the IANR.
