Does anyone know if there is model of a Industrial Brownhoist 250t wreck crane available from anyone? I would like a model of a modern diesel powered crane like the “Z” type that started production in the mid fifties but I can’t find one anywhere.
Boomer:
I don’t know of a 250 tonner, but I did send a PM off to you regarding some other kits I have that may work for you.
JL Innovative makes this one
I built it a couple of months back
I have no idea of the model or ton rating for this one so not sure if it is what you are looking for?
Athearn makes a model wreck crane that matches a photo of a 200 ton B&M/Industrial Brownhoist wrecker #3365 quite closely. The B&M prototype was built in 1929 and converted to diesel in 1956. The model comes with a stack for a steam boiler, but I converted to diesel by removing the stack and covering the hole with a bit of sheet styrene. Glaze the windows, paint the stirrups and hooks safety yellow, and it’s quite repectable.
Don’t know who the manufacturer of the prototype is for this one:

The model was offered by Walthers several years ago, think it may have been a Roco model. The paint job for the Quebec, North Shore & Labarador was done by me. It is of a modern diesel powered prototype, and I’ve added some extra detailing to it.
I searched Google using 250 ton ho scale crane and found these results

Right now I have an Athearn model that I have modified to look like a CN repowered type and I may buy one of the model power types soon. What I’m really looking for is something like in the photo below. It would seem strange that know one has offered an HO version of these because it seems they were very common. I’ve photos of this type of crane belonging to almost every pne of the class1 lines but the only model i’ve seen is a lionel O gauge version.
