I am looking for a small industry switcher for some of my industrys. I think Bachmann makes one but I am not sure.
What era are you modeling? Transision era switchers would be the early SW like the SW 8 would be nice. For more modern eras a SW 1200 or a SW1500 would be good. You can get the SW 1500 at www.athearn.com and the SW 8 from Broad way limited I think.
No, not a yard switcher. An industry “critter” like switcher.
Bachman makes a 44 ton switcher and I think a 70 ton. There’s always the old 6 wheel Plymouth style but they were kind of toy like. Bach’s got them on their web site.
Are you talking about something like the GE 44-tonner? Bachmann makes that but it’s kinda hit and miss if you get a good one or not. The older ones came with 2 motors. The newer ones only have one.

The 70 tonners are a few pages before this.
I thought about those but then a friend of mine had a supposedly bachmann swithcer (looked like a 10 tonner) and it was really nice! I dont know who made it for sure though.
Model Die Casting/Roundhouse, now Horizon, has a great little EMD critter that would be ideal for any industry. Here’s a link:

Thats it! Thanks a lot!
Does anybody have one of these?
Trainworld would be happy to sell you one or more.
The grainary that I pass everyday on the way to work uses an EMD SW1 for switching.
I own one Roundhouse EMD 40 switcher. (“critter”) It’s really very nice. One caution is that it has only 4 wheels and is small. Therefore, you must have clean track and no “dead spots”. It will stall on bad track. Other than that it’s really good. It had a good review in Model Railroader. (That may be the link posted below. I didn’t check the link.)
Here it is working my coke oven. (the side dump car will be replaced by a scratch built car some day)
I like my PennLine D-2 Mini Dismal.
keystone has a couple of 4 wheelers, a boxcab and a hooded version.
